David Galloway's third volume of Airmyn in Days Gone By completes a series he began as long ago as 1984. His books have traced the earlier life of the village by themes rather than chronologically but some of the historical threads followed within this volume do eventually bring the reader back out of the past and into Airmyn as it is today. Nevertheless, much of the text still requires us to picture in our minds the same village without electricity, piped water, telephones or motor vehicles and this can in itself be a fascinating and rewarding exercise.
